USA National Team Seeks Assistant Coach, Team Manager

(Berkeley, California) 8 February 2000 -- USA Rugby is seeking applications for Assistant Coach and Team Manager of of the Men's National Team.

The Assistant Coach will be required to support the development of the National Team, in particular to realize the full playing potential of the backs unit.

Applicants' key skills should include:

High-level coaching qualification
Coaching experience at the senior or international level
Strong motivational ability
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to develop the skill levels of individual players

It is envisaged that the position will be part time, with term and compensation commensurate with experience. The successful applicant will work closely with the Head Coach.

The applicant's ability to participate in the overall technical and organizational development of USA Rugby would be considered a plus. Extensive playing experience at the representative level would also be considered favorably.

The Team Manager is required to organize the day-to-day off-field activities of the National Team, and is responsible for all preparations for assemblies and travel with the Team.

Applicants' key skills should include:

Management experience at the senior or international level
Proven organizational abilities
Playing and touring experience
Strong communication skills
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a team environment

The successful applicant must be available for the Pacific Rim tournament in May, June, and early July with a possible three-week tour in November. Total approximately 12 weeks in 2000.

This is a part-time position, with term and compensation commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Coach.
