Progress on Welsh Tour
(Berkeley, California) 22 May 1997 -- Diligent work by officials from the US National Team, the South RFU, and the Cape Fear Organizing Committee continues, in the effort to resurrect the canceled first leg of Wales' July visit to America. The July 1 and July 5 games in North Carolina are not yet officially back on, but all indications are that the major logistical hurdles have been cleared. It remains to iron out some details, though in some cases things are proceeding as if the games were a definite go.
"I can say that things look promising," US General Manager Jack Clark stated yesterday. "We're hopeful of confirming the matches by the week of May 27."
