2000 Epson Cup Action

Philip Eloff had a big day against Samoa in the Epson Cup, 2000. The center kept his opposite, Va'iga Tuigamala, quiet for most of the match, and made a couple of crucial breaks for the USa.

After finishing his club commitments in Italy, lock Luke Gross rejoined to the USA team for the second half of the Epson Cup campaign, including one home match against Samoa in San Francisco, CA.

Young flanker Kort Schubert made his debut for the USA in the 2000 Pacific Rim, starting in all six matches of the Epson Cup series.

The Eagles and Samoa pack down in front of a packed house at Balboa Park, San Francisco. The crowd was treated to a nail-biter as Samoa held on for a 19-12 win over their hosts, the victory securing the Epson Cup title as well.

Prop Joe Clayton came off the bench to good effect for the Eagles against Canada in their 2000 Epson Cup clash at Manchester, N.H. Clayton scored one of the Eagles try as they came from behind for a 34-25 win.

Center Philip Eloff leaped into the national spotlight with a stand-out Epson Cup campaign. The match against Canada was the second of his 8 tests for the SUA in 2000.
